SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: Warehouses are intermediate points that play a strategic role in the realization of the range of activities from raw materials to production environment, from production environment to consumption centers. As a concept, storage means "to be kept according to certain principles to be used when necessary to meet the needs". It aims to explain the food and beverage purchasing principles, functions of the purchasing department, purchasing and warehouse operations, functions and classification of food markets within the scope of food supply and services management.
Course Content: This course includes packaging and labeling of foods, storage types and management in gastronomy, control systems of warehouses, purchasing principles and product acceptance principles, and inventory management, the importance of product and supplier selection.

Course Specific Rules

As the Course Requirements, students are expected to participate in classes, actively participate in class discussions and evaluations, complete their homework within the given time and check their e-mails daily through OIS.

  2) It details the changes that occur during storage and will be able to define the basic principles of packaging, labeling and storage of foods.
  3) Having knowledge about the management of the purchasing process, supplier selection and market research in the Food and Beverage industry.

  1) Will be able to explain the wide range of purchasing functions that food buyers need.
