SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: It is aimed that students understand the effects of cognitive processes and emotions, their role in behavior acquisition and attitude development, gain basic knowledge about psychological disorders, memory, intelligence and personality, increase their awareness of the importance of cognitive approach in psychology, and develop skills to evaluate human behavior by considering cognitive variables.
Course Content: This course examines consciousness, cognitive processes such as language use and problem solving, short-term and long-term memory structures and functions. This course also deals with intelligence, emotion theories and theories of personality, measurement of intelligence and assessment of personality, stress reactions and coping with stress. DSM-V criteria of psychological disorders and different methods of psychological treatment will be introduced.

Course Specific Rules

The prerequisite of Introduction to Psychology II is Introduction to Psychology I. In order to take the Introduction to Psychology II course, the Introduction to Psychology I course must be completed successfully.
