SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives:
The aim of this course is to develop visual thinking skills, image interpretation and application skills of the students, to make photography reading based on photo analysis, to obtain new information about look-see-understand and to express, to use the camera as a basis and to take pictures by using the composition elements.
Course Content: This course; visual processing, visual perception, perceptions and distortions, effects of Gestalt theories on learning, use of camera, diaphragm, use of shutter and net depth of field, directing perception with the concepts of golden ratio, perspective and perspective, basic composition with the use of basic light and composition This includes taking photos using Perspectives, Line, Contrast, Light, Texture, Color, Rhythm, Harmony, Balance, Ratio, Integrity, Simplicity, Clarity, Sharpness, Motion and Speed.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:
Knowledge (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
  1) Has knowledge about the historical change and development of photography .
  2) Can use photographic materials and tools accurately and efficiently.
  3) Takes photo using the correct Light and efficient. Knows photo shooting process and the stages of this process.
  4) Can form compositions starting from visual and conceptual models and ideas from different sources.
  5) Knows the principles of visual perception and Gestalt perception.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Know the basic concepts of photography.
  2) Knows the visual expression elements of point, line, stains, texture, color, structure, texture and so on. definitions; tries the narrative possibilities.
