SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: Through the use of films, we will be re-examining certain psychological topics in this course. While evaluating films, we will examine our deep-seated viewing habits that we have acquired and adopted, often without realizing it. What kind of audience are we? What do we like or don't like? Are we open to reconsidering and sometimes questioning what we know about psychology with the tools that cinema offers us? What kind of a language and thought system is cinema that touches all myths from daily life to politics? In this course, where we will be involved with different films and these and similar questions every week, we will try to understand the psychology of cinema with what psychology has learned from cinema.
Course Content: Themes of the course: films about dream/reality; borders of self; depression; comedy; anxiety; memory; acting on/beyond stage; voyeurism and gaze; melancholy and parentlng on cinema.
