SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: In this course, the students are aimed to master Turkish pronunciation rules in order to communicate correctly and to make effective presentations in official and private areas.
Course Content: In this course, the importance of diction in verbal communication is explained to the students. Speaking is taught by defining proper speech characteristics, enhancing breathing and using the qualities of voice. The importance of intonation in verbal communication, vocal twisting exercises, situations that negatively affect verbal communication are exemplified. It is ensured that they make effective speech plans and master written communication by taking into account important features such as differences in Turkish writing and spoken language, voice in Turkish speech, melody, pause / punctuation, rational / emotional expression, emphasis.

  2) Defines the importance of voice and perfect voice properties in oral communication and presentation.
  3) Explains the important features of Turkish pronunciation and the differences in writing and spoken language.

  1) Evaluates the importance of diction in communication and presentation techniques.
  2) Applies presentation techniques to give effective speech.
  3) Combines prepared and unprepared speech with body language.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Prepares an effective speaking plan by considering the differences in written and spoken language.
  2) Manages time in presentations prepared within the framework of effective speech and diction.
