SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE |
Course Objectives: | Students may find themselves in "deaf society " within their family and professional lives even if they do not have this handicap. - Therefore, developing emphaty and interacting with the deaf society as a social necessity - regarding the structural characteristics of spoken language by using the specific visions and structures peculiar to sign language are aimed for the students' communicating at the elementary level (A1-A2). |
Course Content: | In the perspective of teaching Turkish Sign Language as a foreign language - A small introduction to Turkish Sign Language deriving from the period of Ottoman empire to the Republic time - The difference between deaf society and spoken culture, primarily stressing the usage of it as in "morphology" and especially the difference of its syntactic form. -Within the scope of basic communicative aims The concept of unique sign for each deaf person Greeting words as "Hello, How are you? See you again etc." Turkish Sign Language Alphabet Numbers "peculiar signs of Turkey's cities signs of basic equipments such as " table, chair, book, mirror etc." fruits Daily vocabulary consisting of Jobs, sports Family members Colours Terms related to Media Clothes Months, seasons Countries Vocabulary related to Health (Organs, emergency kit equipments etc.) and verbs |
