SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to define the effects of the stakeholders on the business and also the business goals. In the content of the lesson the concept of the business and managent, types of business, environment of business, goals of business, placement of business, the aims of the start up, the phases of start up, functions of business will be analysed. Also this lesson aims to build a infrastructure for the future courses.
Course Content: This course aims to define business firms’ targets as well as stakeholders’ impacts on business firms. Within the scope of this course, the following topics will be dealt with in details: business and business management concepts, classification of business firms, economic environments, firms’ targets and responsibilities, choice of firm locations and types, establishment stages, management capacity and basic management functions. Additionally, this course intends to form the necessary basis for future courses.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:

  1) The students will learn the concept, features of business and they can define production factors.
  2) The students can explain the internal and external elements of the environment which the business is settled and they can comment about their effects on businesses , also they can explain the business types.
  3) The students will realize the decision process whether to establish business and feasibility studies, they know the factors that effect the establishment place of the business.
  4) The students can define the factors that effect the size of the business and they can define the concept and the types of the capacity.
  5) The students can explain the concept of management, functions and current management approachs.
  6) The students will have the knowledge of generating and managing marketing mix.
  7) The students will have the knowledge of human resources management.
  8) The students can define financial management process and basic terms.
  9) The students can define the production process and the basic concepts.
