SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: In this course, students will be able to define basic level of psychology, communication and design disciplines; It is aimed to establish a link between the personality and motivation theories of psychology and communication and design processes.
Course Content: Introduction to psychology, basic concepts of psychology, motivation and personality theories, Gestalt Theory, the concept of mass and mass psychology, communication and design concepts.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:

10) Mass Behavior (sample passages from Gasset's Riot of the Masses, Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls, and Dickens' Tale of Two Cities)
11) Propaganda (Chomsky Model; propaganda posters prepared by Nazis, Soviets and Americans)
12) Persuasion: Production of Consent-persuasion and deception- (Cengiz Anık, Political Persuasion Book)
13) Production of Consent - download-, design of political election posters (Comparison of Democrat and AK Party) (Homework, target audience and SWOT Analysis will be made on any subject by considering 13 weeks.
14) Homework presentations.
