SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: To be able to decide on the selection of building materials to be used in a construction project, having knowledge about the properties of the building material, their structure and potential. Ensuring the selection of the right building materials in professional life and projects.
Course Content: Classification of materials,
Basic properties of materials, materials used in construction,
Usage areas in the building, production methods, application forms,
Design approaches and sustainability.
Selection of the right structure model and related building material for the needs in the building

Course Specific Rules

Course evaluation will be based on 1 Midterm (25%), 1 Midterm (10%) and 2 Homework (15%).
Topic distribution for the project assignment will be made in the coming weeks and all students will be expected to present in the final weeks.
Assignments will also be taken as project submission.
In order to ensure student participation every week, except for the project homework, a discussion will be held by the students determined in the theoretical part of the practice part of the course and the second homework grade will be given in this way.
The lessons will be taught in the form of 2+2, in the first part the lecture (theoretical) will proceed in the form of practice in the second part.
There is an obligation to attend the course.
