SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The main purpose of the course is to explain to the students how businesses can invest in financial assets and how they will finance these investments on a theoretical basis and with practical examples. In order to achieve this, the basic concepts of finance, financial management, financial markets, financial statements and their analysis, working capital management, time value of money, interest rates, cost of capital, capital budgeting, risk and return concepts in financial assets, financial failure situations in businesses. It is aimed to provide theoretical background and practical thinking by teaching students about futures markets, portfolio theory and analyzes including all these concepts in a systematic framework. With the seminar assignments to be given to the students, it is aimed to develop the students in the fields of business finance and financial management by solving and sharing detailed problems related to the subjects.
Course Content: Basic concepts of business finance, financial markets, financial tables and analysis, working capital management, market interest rates, short-term financial planning, time value of money, cost of capital, capital budgeting, calculation of asset values, financial failure in businesses, long-term financial planning, futures markets, alternative financing methods, portfolio management

  1) To understand all the features that a finance manager should have in the field of business finance and to have the necessary competence in the field of financial management
  2) Applies the theoretical knowledge learned by being in business life for a semester.
