SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: A student who successfully completes this course will be able to theoretically explain the process from the emergence of fiction to the present. He uses Adobe Premiere software at a level to realize the editing of his own projects. Organizes different types of video content (fiction, documentary, clip, news, experimental, etc.) on the software with the information obtained in the course.
Course Content: Definitions of Editing and Editing Concepts, Editing and Early Examples in Cinema, Soviet Editing Principles & Continuity Editing (The Formation of Plot, Scene and Sequence), Historical and Technical Development of Editing & Horizontal and Vertical Editing Concepts & Workflow from Editing to Post Production Process, Adobe Premiere Interface Introduction & Project File Opening & Sequence Settings & Import & Timeline In/Out/Insert/Overwrite/Razor/Delete/Copy/Paste/Cut, Basic Editing Techniques (Match & Cut Away & Jump) & Editing Transition Techniques, Image & Sound Synchronization / Multicam Clip Editing, News and Action Scene Editing, Series Scene Editing – Trim/Roll/Ripple/Split Edit, Motion Menu Usage & Keyframe Systematics (Graphic & Logo Editing), Sound Editing – Synchronous and Asynchronous Sound & L-Cut, J- Cut, Adjusting Sound Levels & Sound Transitions & Use of Royalty Free Music & Rhythmic Editing and Sound Effects, Keying & Color Correction & Grading, Font Addition and Title Menu Usage, Editors, Scenes and Filmographies in the World and Turkey – Render & Export headers constitute the content of the course.

  2) Explains the difference between horizontal and vertical editing.
  3) Defines shortcuts in editing software.
  4) Tests synchronization on video and audio.
  5) Performs motion graphics and text adding operations
  6) Defines basic editing techniques.
  7) Configures editing techniques.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) It can combine dialogue editing.
  2) Predicts where and when to use editing transition methods.
  3) Edits the basics of audio mixing.
  4) Improves editing speed on different genres.
  5) Performs transferring the image and finalizing the project on the software.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Develops the ability to work independently and take responsibility on editing software.
  2) Summarizes the basis of editing processes in cinema and television and designs them before implementation.
  3) Creates and designs effects (transitions).
  4) Designs different editing projects on the software.
  5) Arranges all aspects of the designed editing projects by using the possibilities offered by the software.
