SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE |
Course Objectives: | Students taking this course will be able to interpret the concept and theories of culture; evaluate the social, political and cultural developments that prepare the grounds for the formation of the cultural studies discipline by synthesizing them with the milestones of the history of thought. |
Course Content: | In this course, current debates in the field of cultural studies are examined in relation to the important schools of thought in history. Basic approaches such as ideology, culture industry, semiotics, power, subject and identity formation, ideology, orientalism, studies related to globalization, positivism, postmodernism and poststructuralism will be analyzed with a critical perspective. |
