SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to enable students to learn the concept of management from social and organizational perspectives, to understand and interpret its change in the historical process and the social, political and economic changes that are effective in this process; to distinguish the role and functions played by managers in the organization and to have knowledge about contemporary management techniques used in today's businesses.
Course Content: It covers fundamental information about decision-making, planning, organizing, leading and controlling functions of management. First, historical evolution and current conditions of management theory and practices will be discussed. Then, managing today’s rapidly changing environment are elaborated around the topics of decision-making, innovation, organizational design. After midterm, a deeper focus will be given to human factor through diversity management, team work, behavioral sciences, and leadership. Last topics will be on organizational communication and control function of management.
