SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to give information about classification, structure, reproductive environment and production of microorganisms, genetic and metabolic properties, working principles of microbiology and basic methods
Course Content: Application areas of microbiology, general properties of bacteria, fungi and viruses, metabolism, enzymes and reproductive properties, pathogenicity, infection mechanisms, genetic properties, immunological defense, microbiology give basic knowledge.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:

  2) Explain virulence, factors and infection mechanisms of microorganisms.
  3) Define immune response and defense mechanisms against microorganisms.
