SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to classify hearing loss based on normal hearing and hearing loss concepts and to learn the pathologies that cause hearing loss.
Diagnosis and treatment methods along with the causes of hearing loss are also discussed within the course.
Course Content: As part of this course; The subjects of the etiology of hearing loss, genetic hearing loss, hearing loss according to their degree and localization, unilateral hearing loss, non-organic hearing loss, hearing loss in infants and children, and hearing differentials are discussed.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:
Knowledge (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
  1) know hearing loss and its effects on communication
  2) classify hearing losses according to their degree and pathology
  3) Can explain the causes of hearing loss.
  4) Know the basic pathologies that cause hearing loss
  5) know infectious diseases that cause hearing loss
  6) know diagnostic and test methods used in hearing loss
  7) know which genes are responsible for genetic hearing loss
  8) know medical and surgical treatment methods in individuals with hearing loss
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) classify hearing loss
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) interpret hearing loss with cases
  2) know organic and non organic causes causing hearing loss
