Course Objectives:
Course Content: Grammar: The verb TO BE ; imperatives (classroom instructions); subject pronouns; a and an ; possessive nouns ; demonstrative pronouns/adjectives (this/that/these/those); singular and plural nouns; quantifiers (how much/many, any, some); count and non-count nouns ; the simple present tense & adverbs of frequency; THERE IS and THERE ARE; CAN and CAN'T(possibility & ability); the simple past tense (verb TO BE; regular & irregular verbs; all forms); possessive adjectives; HAVE/HAS GOT; prepositions of place

Reading & Vocabulary: Numbers, basic adjectives; alphabet, spelling; travelling; countries and nationalities; places (school, house, church, touristic sights etc.); rooms and furniture; lifestyles; daily routines; jobs; people and family relations; personality and personality adjectives; time expressions; social events; shopping & things to buy; habits, foods and drinks; biography, dates and time phrases; collocations

Writing: Punctuation; simple sentence; compound sentence; form filling; writing an e-mail and a blog; linkers (and, but, or); free paragraph writing (descriptive- family, a place; daily routine, special event); writing a short report; writing a recipe; writing a biography (using "because" and "so")

Listening and Speaking: Introducing yourself/oneself; giving info about a place; making requests, understanding one's situation; hotel reservation; listening and speaking about daily routines and jobs; ask and answer questions (Wh-/How/Yes/No Questions); listening and talking about/describing others and places; using body language for communication; making arrangements; talking about an occasion; listening/talking about the things people can do at a place; understanding and using shop language; talking about foods, drinks, and eating habits; ordering in a restaurant; listening and talking about past events

  1) The students in this course know about basic English grammar structures.
  2) The students in the course recognize the structures of sentences: the ones with auixilary verbs, the Simple Present, and the Simple Past.
  3) The students in this course can name a few very common everyday objects.
  4) In this course students know the English words used for numbers, alphabet, description of people, things and places, countries, nationalities, jobs, family relations, time expressions, foods and drinks, and past lives.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) The students in this course know how to use nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs and verbs.
  2) The students in this course know Simple Past forms and talk about past events.
  3) The students in this course can recognise and say the name of their own country, nationality and language and ask someone what their nationality is.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) The students in this course, after completing this course, can improve the capability of using English language with their own effort.
  2) The students in this course know A1 level vocabulary stated in Common European Framework (CEFR).
  3) The students in this course, recognise common words used with listening skills and understand conversations on A1 level.
  4) The students in the course recognize the structures of sentences: the ones with auixilary verbs, the Simple Present, and the Simple Past.
  5) In this course students know the English words used for numbers, alphabet, description of people, things and places, countries, nationalities, jobs, family relations, time expressions, foods and drinks, and past lives.
