SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to provide the students with detailed information about operating room applications and to use the operating room applications in health institutions.
Course Content: Operation room environment, surgical interventions, surgery, patient preparation, preparation of infection control.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:

  1) Define the equipments that should be in the operating room.
  2) Summarize the operations of the operation room.
  3) Explain the characteristics of surgical sets, special materials and special sets.
  4) Classify and exemplify surgical instruments.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Learn to help with surgical table preparation
  2) Explains the procedure of preparing the patient for surgery.
  3) Explains the importance of the position to be given to the patient in accordance with the surgical procedure to be performed.
