SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: In this course, it is aimed that the student will be able to design a composition with objects selected from various forms by applying the traditional learning methods of the basic drawing, and construct this composition by using the linear perspective that emerged in the renaissance in a 2-dimensional plane, giving a 3-dimensional effect. It is aimed to gain new perspectives by interpreting the environment in which he lives in the system of observation-analysis-synthesis, to reveal the creative potential and unique sensitivity of the student through discussions that examine artistic concepts, and to question the artistic perspective of the student and express himself in his own words with these discussions.
Course Content:
In this course, students have knowledge of subjects such as linear perspective, visual mathematics, occupancy-space, ratio proportion, light-shadow, form, light-dark toning, anatomy, and art history, and apply their theoretical knowledge on these topics.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:

  1) List the materials that will be used in the application process of charcoal drawing.
  2) Explains the method of visualizing the environment and objects inhabited.
  3) Defines the terms used in the drawing area.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) It designs the space, object or figure it aims to draw by composing it in order to visualize it and depicts it uniquely on the paper surface.
  2) Evaluates the theoretical and practical knowledge about the area of drawing in traditional art history and compares it with his own works. Adapts the obtained knowledge to drawing studies.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Appreciates his / her works by developing visual mathematics and critical thinking skills.
  2) With its theoretical and practical knowledge, it makes decisions respectful to social values ​​within the framework of ethical rules by protecting the personal rights in the problems that it will encounter in professional life.
