SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The course aims to develop the student's knowledge and experience in basic design in the context of the construction of interior and exterior spaces. The aim of the course is to investigate geometric forms formed by articulation of spaces, to understand the relationship between space and structure, and to see and experiment the problems related to human-space interaction and design.
Course Content: The students will work on the new concepts and design criteria by using the basic design concepts acquired in the first semester of their education and the skills of two and three dimensional presentation techniques.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:
Knowledge (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
  1) Knows the basic design principles and universal values on the subject of design.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) By creating two and three dimensional compositions, determines the properties and values of various compositions in terms of design principles.
  2) While solving design problems, students build affair based on multi-dimensional variables and creates a solution system.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Examines and evaluates all social, natural and built environmental elements with a critical perspective.
  2) Knows the responsibilities of individual and group work and acquires a working discipline in this direction.
  3) Acquires the discipline of work in the studio environment and develops a behavior suitable for the functions of the spaces.
