SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: It is aimed to provide students with information on the basic concepts of social work in disasters, in-depth analysis of policies and practices, introduction to the field of social work in disasters, human service delivery systems and psycho-social health and social service needs of disaster victims and service providers.
Course Content: This course disaster (disaster) concept and scope, in people who have experienced social disaster: Psychological problems (post-traumatic stress disorders), symptoms and relief behaviors; social interaction issues, symptoms and help behaviors, social service worker activities in accordance with the Psychosocial Services Union Protocol in Disasters, social support systems and social work practices in disaster situations, strategy in effective situations, effective use of mass media in disaster situations.

  1) The student will have information about how to serve during natural disaster.

  1) The student will have information about the preparation before natural disaster.
  2) The student learns to give importance to the awareness raising activities for the society to be prepared for disasters.
  3) The student learns how to contact people about panic during and after the disaster.
  4) The student gains awareness in order to regulate the complexity experienced after the disaster.
