SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to enable students to recognize free zones, to understand their role in export and import processes, and to have a good grasp of the incentives and exceptions applied in Turkey's free zones within the scope of current laws.

In addition, with the information given about the incentive tools that export-oriented enterprises can benefit from and the foreign trade incentive system, the students will be able to apply incentives and analyze their reasons, and to ensure that they have the necessary skills and equipment in this regard.
Course Content: The Free Zone part of the course starts with the introduction and covers the establishment and management process and advantages; exceptions and incentives applied in free zones in Turkey; free zone operations; free trade zone data statistics of recent years.

Within the scope of Foreign Trade Incentives, up-to-date case studies on export-oriented incentives, import policy measures, and import-related practices are explained in a comprehensive and up-to-date form, including organizations promoting foreign trade, products and services.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:
Knowledge (Described as Theoritical and/or Factual Knowledge.)
  1) Explain the place and importance of foreign trade policies in the foreign trade policy.
  2) Define foreign trade incentives types. Revises the evolution of the incentives in Turkey.
  3) Distinguish which firm can benefit from which foreign trade incentives. Explain the documents that should be prepared in order to benefit from foreign trade incentives.
  4) Define the free zone. Gain knowledge about different applications in the world.
  5) Reach a level of knowledge that can discuss the functions of free zones, their establishment purposes, and their contribution to the economy.
  6) Explain tax and investment incentives and exceptions applied in free zones in Turkey.
Skills (Describe as Cognitive and/or Practical Skills.)
  1) Explain the current foreign trade incentives in Turkey and introduces the institutions giving the incentives. Explain the necessary procedures to benefit from foreign trade incentives.
