SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: In this course the student wil learn Management Functions and the type of market, how an airline company will behave according to the strategies of competitors and the cost structures.
Course Content: In this course, the development of civil air transport in the world and Turkey will be explained. The international regulations at civil air transport, the system approaches of air transport will be mentioned. The type of carriers ( scheduled, non-schseduled, charter), major carriers, national carriers, regional carriers, competition strategies ( cost-leadership, differentiation, focusing a market) , Porter's model, demand and suply in air transport and the influences of the political, economical, social crises (PEST analysis) to air transport will be explained. Oligopoly market form and the models for air transport will be mentioned. Web types of air carriers ( linear, mixed and collect & distribute systems ) will be shown. The cost analysis of air transport carriers (variable, fixed costs, direct &indirect costs ) will also be tought.
