SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to familiarize the students with the basic concepts of psychology and to learn the main schools of psychology. In addition to this, it is one of the objectives of the students to develop a reading habit about the discipline of psychology.
Course Content: In this course, the scope of psychology as a scientific discipline and its historical development will be discussed. The basic echoes of this development which have survived to the present day will be studied.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are those describing the knowledge, skills and competencies that students are expected to achieve upon successful completion of the course. In this context, Course Learning Outcomes defined for this course unit are as follows:

  1) To learn which areas of psychology as a scientific discipline.
  2) To learn the historical development of psychology, the basic psychological schools in this development which have survived until today.
  3) Learning the basic concepts of psychology and using them.
  4) To understand the relationship between psychology and other social sciences.
