Course Objectives: |
The aim of this lecture is to teach the students; the brief history of air transportation, the fundamental characteristics of airline business, the factors effecting air demand, the oligapoly market, Traffic Rights, effects of regulation and deregulation, airline strategies, Porter's competative strategies, business models, inter-airline agreements, the cost structure of airlines, global airline alliances, and the PESTE analysis of airline market. |
Course Content: |
In this course students will learn, the brief history of air transportation, the fundamental characteristics of airline business, the factors effecting tha airline demand, theterms Aviable Seat Kilometres (ASK), Revenue Passenger-Likometres (RPK), 5 Traffic Rights and 8 traffic Rights, effect of deregulation on airline business, oligapoly markets, airline business models ( lines, hub and spoke), porter's competative strategies (cost leadership, focusing, differentation), Inter-airline agreements (code sharing etc), Global Airline Alliances (Star Alliance, Oneworld, Skyteam), cost structures of airlines, airline risk management and PESTE ( political, ekonomic, social, technical and enviromental) analysis of aviation market. |
