SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to equip students with fundamental concepts, theoretical perspectives, and analytical tools in strategic management, enabling them to evaluate how firms achieve and sustain competitive advantage and adapt to changing environmental conditions from a holistic perspective.
Course Content: This course covers the fundamental concepts, theoretical frameworks, and practical tools of strategic management. It examines the evolution of strategic management, competitive advantage, and strategic fit, followed by analyses of the external environment (PESTLE, industry analysis) and internal environment (resource-based view, VRIO). The course also explores competitive strategies, corporate strategy, diversification, mergers and acquisitions, and internationalization strategies. In the later weeks, topics such as strategic innovation, digital transformation, Blue Ocean Strategy, performance measurement (Balanced Scorecard and KPIs), strategic leadership, sustainability and ESG, as well as crisis management and organizational resilience are discussed. The course emphasizes not only theoretical understanding but also the development of analytical and evaluative skills.
