SECTION II: INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE

Course Objectives & Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to create understanding on the concepts of basic foreign trade operations and to earn the ability to put in practice the foreign trade operations.
Course Content: In the scope of this course; all the documents and certificates used in a foreign trade operation, such as the commercial documents, transportation documents, movement and insurance certificates, are instructed with their samples. The INCOTERMS, which are one of the main subject in international trade and the payment terms are also explained. In the end of the semester, the practical examples are given in order to make students understand the import and export operation process.

  2) You can compare the distribution of risk, cost, and responsibility for Incoterms 2020 delivery terms.
  3) Can explain how payment methods used in foreign trade work.

  1) You can select the basic documents used in foreign trade according to the relevant process.
  2) Can implement the steps involved in e-document and e-export processes.
Competences (Described as "Ability of the learner to apply knowledge and skills autonomously with responsibility", "Learning to learn"," Communication and social" and "Field specific" competences.)
  1) Classifies the types of risks that may be encountered in foreign trade and can justify the solution approach for these risks.
  2) Can interpret foreign trade policies and the effects of international agreements.

2) It can handle logistics operations such as warehouse management, order processing, transportation, packaging, and labeling.
3) They can apply basic knowledge of foreign trade, marketing, and customs legislation, as well as foreign trade processes (INCOTERMS, delivery and payment methods, etc.).
4) Can evaluate the internal and external environment of logistics companies in terms of economic indicators.
5) Can develop innovative solutions to complex problems encountered in the field of logistics.
6) Can effectively use theoretical knowledge and information technologies in design, planning, and decision-making processes.
